Peter Goggin - Director

Peter brings to SmartGrid Partners substantial commercial experience derived from almost 17 years experience in the electricity sector. He has held senior business development roles for internationally successful renewable energy companies in Australia and the United Kingdom. In more recent times he has held key commercial advisory positions in innovative utility demand management and energy conservation projects. In particular he was instrumental in the development of the Townsville: Queensland Solar City project. This is an iconic project led by Ergon Energy, Queensland's regional electricity distribution company which has combined demand management energy conservation, Solar PV, smart meters, advanced energy storage and deep community enrolment to deliver unique commercial results on Magnetic Island and across the broader Townsville region. In 2009 he co-founded SmartGrid Partners and has since provided a range of advisory and venture services to SmartGrid Partners' client base.

Grahame Foulger - Director

Grahame has worked in distribution and retail in the electricity and energy sector for more than 35 years.  He combines extensive senior executive operational experience with a strong list of business development achievements in an outstanding career. Grahame is recognised as an energy conservation expert in distribution utilities, has presented internationally, and was awarded the inaugural James Cook University of North Queensland Engineering School Alumni of the year 2007 for work in this field. 

During his career at Ergon Energy Grahame led the iconic Townsville: Queensland Solar City team to success. He also established Ergon Energy’s acclaimed corporate innovation program including strategy, web-based innovation forum, leadership and implementation.  Grahame also brings to SmartGrid Partners significant capability and relationships in corporate sustainability, innovative research and development, energy storage, energy conservation and power quality products. 

Grahame has a track record of delivering outcomes beyond expectation and is focussing on SmartGrid Partners delivering value through innovative collaboration – an integration of behavioural and deep technical techniques operating in phase.

Shane O'Kane - Co-Founder

Shane is a co-founder of SGP and has over 25 years experience in the finance sector primarily in the structured finance and infrastructure sectors. In 2011 he established Brookfield Financial's Queensland office but remains aligned with SGP in an advisory capacity. This alliance has the potential to provide SGP with significant capability in funding new models for electricity infrastructure. 

His ongoing interest via Brookfield Financial in relation to Smart Grid initiatives is on assisting SGP in:

  Developing joint ventures and alliances to accelerate commercialisation opportunities;
  Optimising regulatory, statutory and financial structures to ensure business models are sustainable; and
  Establishing funding models for electricity infrastructure in large scale developments.
